Approvals and Accreditation

  • Interim Approval by the Colorado State Board of Nursing.
  • Full Approval Status by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  • Zona Rosa, MO ASN program has been granted full initial accreditation for spring 2009 through spring 2014 by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC).

ASN Program Curriculum

  • The Associate of Science in Nursing degree Clinical Core is 6 quarters in length.
  • The Nursing Foundational Core has to be completed before applying to the clinical core

Nursing Foundational Core

  • Classes include
    • Algebra (College or Intermediate)
    • English Composition I
    • Anatomy and Physiology I with Lab
    • Anatomy and Physiology II with Lab
    • Microbiology with Lab
  • This can take as little as 2 quarters to complete.

  • **Completion of the Foundational Core does not guarantee admission into the clinical core.

Admission Criteria for Acceptance into the Nursing Clinical Core

  • Admission and acceptance into National American University.
  • Completion of all Foundational Core Courses with a minimum grade of C before application (Science Classes should be less than 5 years old).
  • Minimum Cumulative G.P.A of 2.8 on all Nursing Foundational Core courses.
  • Successfully complete TEAS exam.
  • Complete Background Check.
  • Complete Application Packet.
  • Complete Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) before application deadline. This must be completed in current state.
  • Background checks, proof of insurance, immunizations.
  • A physical must be performed 6 months prior to application.
  • ** ADMISSION to the program is competitive and there is no guarantee.

TEAS EXAM

  • STUDENTS MUST AT LEAST ACHIEVE A 70% Adjusted Individual Total Score.
  • There is NO Magic TEAS score, but do your best because admission is competitive.
  • You may take unlimited times.
  • Must wait 2 weeks between testing.
  • TEAS EXAM Consists of:
    • Reading
    • Math
    • English
    • Science
  • Contact the Nursing Assistant at each campus for more information.

How to calculate G.P.A

What is the schedule like?

  • Clinical rotations may be held during the weekday, weekend, and/or during campus breaks and may be 8 or 12 hour days.
  • Typical schedule includes 4-5 days of theory and clinical. (Denver and Zona Rosa campus)

Will I get a job after I graduate?

  • Most of our students have a job before they graduate!
  • Our students work in all areas of nursing.

  • This depends on a lot of things.

Are you allowed to work?

  • YES!!!!
  • Historically, the nursing clinical core takes 2-3 days a week of required class time to complete.
  • We don’t recommend you work full-time, but this is something you will need to decide.
